Builders Association of the Twin Cities Presents the 20th Annual Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM
9/24/2007
The annual Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary in 2007, scheduled to run October 12-14. This is a unique opportunity to tour 126 actual remodeled homes in 35 communities across the extended Twin Cities metropolitan area. Homeowners can find inspiration and ideas to transform their homes to better suit their needs and tastes, as well as talk to professional remodelers who can help them do it.
Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM homes will be open from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12th and from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, October 13th and 14th. Remodeling representatives will be on hand at each home to answer questions and show visitors what each remodeling project entailed. Admission is free to all with the exception of two homes, the Dream Remodeling Homes, where visitors will be asked for a $5.00 donation that goes to the Builders Outreach Foundation, the charitable arm of the Builders Association.
“The Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM is absolutely the best way for homeowners to find a remodeler,” said Bob Flynn, 2007, chair of the Remodelers ShowcaseSM committee and owner of Flynn Construction. “Actually walking into a remodeled space can help homeowners better visualize the possibilities for their own home, and determine the caliber of work presented by the 96 of the top professional remodeling firms in the region. It’s a great place to check out the newest products and styles, too.”
Free copies of the Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM Guidebook will be available at all metropolitan area Holiday Stationstores beginning in early October. Guidebooks can also be picked up at any of the 126 homes, and they will be inserted in all metro home delivered copies of the Star Tribune and St. Paul Pioneer Press newspapers on Thursday, October 11th.
The Guidebook features information about each of the remodeled homes, including description, photo or illustration, plus a map and directions to each home. Also in the guidebook are interesting articles that include a look at our new Green certification program, Minnesota GreenStar Certified Green Homes and Remodeling, an introduction to Kyle Anderson, a
wounded Iraqi veteran whose home we will be remodeling with the help of the Builders Outreach Foundation and WCCO AM Radio under Operation Dream Makeover. You’ll also find all the winners of our Remodeler of Merit AwardsSM (ROMA).
Searching for Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM projects is even easier when you log onto www.paradeofhomes.org. Use the Remodeled Homes search to create your own personalized tour by selecting region, remodeler and/or project type. You can use our Tour Planner to save your favorites and record notes about them, take a virtual tour of many of the homes, and link to a personal page about each of the remodelers on the tour, many with links to their own web sites. All of the Guidebook editorial will be accessible on-line as well. Plus, a feedback button sends consumer comments, questions and suggestions directly to the members of the Builders Association of the Twin Cities Remodelers council.
Projects on display include 48 kitchen renovations, 45 whole-house remodels, and 27 additions. You can find baths, owners’ suites, mud rooms, screened and three-season porches, dens, lower levels, theater rooms, and much more. Virtually every aspect of home remodeling is on display! And, the Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM really allows homeowners to consider the benefits of remodeling their home without any pressure.
“The Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM is a perfect place for homeowners to begin looking at options when their current home just doesn’t suit their lifestyle any longer,” explains Flynn. “They can actually see how remodeling a home can transform an unsuitable layout and tired facade into a home that is perfect for the way they want to live today.”
Homes are open in 35 communities across the Twin Cities area. Edina, with 25, has the most remodeling projects, followed by Minneapolis with 23 and St. Paul with 11. Six are located in St. Louis Park, five in Minnetonka, and four each in Bloomington, Plymouth and Woodbury. Many are in close-in communities like Falcon Heights, Golden Valley, Richfield, Roseville, and St. Anthony. Others range further out, including homes in White Bear Township, Blaine, Ham Lake, Mendota Heights, Excelsior, Chanhassen, and Wayzata.
All the homes on display during the Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM will feature a bright yellow and blue site sign displaying each entry’s distinct Remodelers Showcase number. These numbers correspond to the mapped sections of the Guidebook and web site, and make locating the remodeling projects easy.
Free remodeling seminars are offered on Saturday, October 13th (How to Select your Home Remodeler) and Saturday October 20th (Kitchen Workshop) at the Builders Association offices in Roseville. Registrations can be made by phone at (651) 697-1954 or online at www.paradeofhomes.org.
