Presenting the New Spring Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM
3/27/2008

The 20-year-old Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM is launching a new spring edition of the popular remodeled home tour, with the first spring tour set for March 28-30, 2008. The new spring version opens with 69 beautiful remodeled homes from 56 remodeling firms, in 27 communities across the extended Twin Cities metropolitan area to tour. Homeowners will find inspiration and ideas to remodel their own homes, while getting a chance to interview professional remodelers about their capabilities without obligation.

The new spring Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM hours are the same as the fall tours: from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday (March 28) and from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (March 29 and 30). Remodeling representatives will be on hand at each home to answer questions and tell visitors about the project. Admission is free to all with the exception of two Dream Remodeled Homes, where visitors will be asked for a $5.00 donation that helps fund the Builders Outreach?Foundation, the charitable arm of the Builders Association.

One of this spring’s Dream Remodeled?Homes is the home of a very special young man, Kyle Anderson. During last fall’s?Remodelers ShowcaseSM we introduced you to Kyle, a remarkable Marine who was injured in the Iraq War. Dubbed Operation?Dream Makeover, this project was undertaken by the Remodelers?ShowcaseSM, the Builders Association of the Twin Cities and its and charitable arm, the Builders Outreach Foundation to give Kyle a home that functions for his needs today and into the future. During the spring?Remodelers ShowcaseSM, you can visit Kyle’s home and help the Foundation continue its work helping people like Kyle.

You can read more about Kyle and Operation Dream?Makeover in the official Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM Guidebook. The Guidebook is free and will be available at all metropolitan area Holiday StationStores beginning in early March, and will be inserted in all metro home delivered copies of the Star Tribune and St. Paul Pioneer Press newspapers on Thursday, March 27th.

“The Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM has long been the best way for homeowners to find a remodeler and get great ideas for their homes,” said Bob?Flynn, 2008, chair of the Remodelers ShowcaseSM committee and owner of Flynn Construction. “Extending the Remodelers ShowcaseSM with a spring tour was a natural, and the perfect place to showcase our Operation?Dream Makeover home.”

Planning Your Remodelers?ShowcaseSSM?Tour

Everything you need to plan your spring Remodelers ShowcaseSM tour is in the free Guidebook. All 69 homes are featured with a written description, photo or illustration, plus a map and directions to each home. Searching for Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM projects is even easier when you log onto www.paradeofhomes.org. Use the Remodeled?Homes search to create your own personalized tour by selecting region, remodeler and/or project type. Then save your favorites to the Tour Planner where you can refer back quickly as well as record notes about each one. You’ll be able to take a virtual tour of many of the homes, and link to a personal page about each of the remodelers on the tour, many with links to their own web sites.

Projects on display include 22 whole-house remodels, 12 kitchen renovations plus eight of the 17 additions featuring kitchens, and 12 lower-level finishes. You’ll find baths, owners’ suites, mud rooms and laundries, family rooms, decks and porches, even a sun room. Virtually every aspect of home remodeling is on display! The Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM really allows homeowners to consider the benefits of remodeling their home and the capabilities of a wide range of professional remodelers, all without any pressure.

“Spring is a time when many homeowners decide to remodel after a long winter indoors where they’re reminded of all the areas in their home that just don’t suit their needs very well,” explains Flynn. “So the new spring Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM is a perfect place to begin looking. It’s where they can actually see how remodeling can transform an unsuitable layout and tired facade into a home that is perfect for the way they want to live today.”

Homes are open in 27 communities across the Twin Cities area. Edina and Minneapolis, with nine each, have the most remodeling projects, followed by St. Paul with seven and Woodbury with four. Other homes are located all around the region including first ring suburbs (Richfield, Falcon?Heights, St Louis Park and Arden Hills) as well as second and third ring suburbs (Apple Valley and Inver Grove Heights, Chanhassen and Chaska, Shoreview and Wayzata, Stillwater and more).

All the homes on display during the Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM will feature a bright yellow and blue site sign displaying each entry’s distinct Remodelers ShowcaseSM number. These numbers correspond to the mapped sections of the Guidebook and web site, and make locating the remodeling projects easy.

Free remodeling seminars are offered on Saturday, March 28th (Kitchen Workshop and Green Remodeling and Building) and Saturday, April 5 (Kitchen Workshop and How to Select your Home Remodeler) at the Builders Association offices in Roseville. Registrations can be made by phone at (651) 697-1954 or online at www.paradeofhomes.org.
