Presenting the 21st annual Fall Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM
9/24/2008
In its 21st year, the Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM is bigger than ever, and set to run October 10-12, 2008. This fall, 133 beautiful remodeled homes are open to tour from 85 top professional remodeling firms in 35 communities across the extended Twin Cities metropolitan area. Touring actual remodeling projects provides inspiration and ideas to homeowners interested in remodeling their own homes. This is the perfect opportunity to meet and interview remodelers without obligation, and often the homeowners will be on hand to discuss their remodeling experience.
All of the homes in the Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM are open from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday (October 10) and from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (October 11 and 12). Admission is free at every home, with the exception of two Dream Remodeled Homes, where a $5.00 donation will be requested at the door. Your donation helps fund the Builders Outreach Foundation, the charitable arm of the Builders Association in their efforts to provide homes for families who otherwise couldn’t afford one.
“Homeowners who are exploring the opportunities for remodeling their own home should always start the process by touring the Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM,” said Bob Flynn, 2008, chair of the Remodelers ShowcaseSM committee and owner of Flynn Construction. “The tour lets you experience how remodeling can improve a home and its family’s lifestyle while providing the perfect setting to begin interviewing potential remodelers for your own home.”

When you use the Remodeled Homes search online at paradeofhomes.org, you can easily create your own personalized tour by selecting the region, remodeler by name, and/or the project type in which you’re most interested. Click the TourPlanner button to save your favorites. Then whenever you log on you can refer back to those choices quickly including a notes section that lets you keep track of what you liked or features to remember. You’ll be able to take virtual tours of many of the homes, link to a personal page about each of the remodelers, and find links to most of their own web sites.
Projects on display include 55 whole-house remodels, 56 kitchen renovations and 52 additions. You’ll find bedrooms, baths and owners’ suites, exteriors, porches, lower levels, mud rooms and laundries, home offices and garages. Virtually every aspect of home remodeling is on display! The Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM really allows homeowners to consider the benefits of remodeling their home and the capabilities of a wide range of professional remodelers, all without any pressure.
“Many of my clients have first seen my work during the Remodelers ShowcaseSM,” explains Flynn. “Sometimes they have visited my homes two or three years in a row as they research their remodeling options, and other times have asked me on the spot for an appointment to discuss their remodeling needs. That’s what makes the tour so valuable. It allows families to research their remodeling options quickly if they want, or spend several years shopping and exploring ideas before they are ready to remodel.”
Homes are open in 35 communities across the Twin Cities area. Minneapolis, with 30, has the most remodeling projects, followed by St. Paul with 16 and Edina with 13. St. Louis Park and?Minnetonka each have seven, and Plymouth and Chanhassen each have six. Other homes are located all around the region including first ring suburbs (Golden Valley, Falcon Heights, and Roseville), second and third ring suburbs (St. Louis Park, Plymouth, New Brighton, Hopkins and Blaine), and homes are also on tour in the outlying cities of Monticello, Nowthen, and Victoria.
All the homes on display during the Parade of Homes Remodelers ShowcaseSM will feature bright yellow and blue signs displaying each entry’s distinct Remodelers ShowcaseSM number. These numbers correspond to the mapped sections of the Guidebook and web site, and make locating the remodeling projects easy.
Free remodeling seminars are offered on Saturday, October 11th (How to use a Purchase and RenovateSM loan and Green Remodeling and Building) and Saturday, October 18th (Kitchen Workshop and How to Select your Home Remodeler) at the Builders Association offices in Roseville. Registrations can be made by phone at (651) 697-1954 or online at www.paradeofhomes.org.
