Wit and Delight Home Tour
This Spring, local blogger Kate Arends Peters and her husband Joe Peters graced the cover of our Parade of Homes Remodelers Showcase guidebook. We have to be honest, we’re giddy to feature such a talented duo as they share their remodeling experience (with McDonald Remodeling) inside our feature article.
Joe is a marketing guru for Red Wing Shoe Co. and Kate works as a marketing consultant for many top national brands, though you may know her best as the talented writer and lifestyle curator for the popular blog Wit and Delight or her 2014 home-inspired tabletop product line at Target. She has been blogging throughout their St. Paul home renovation, detailing the experience for her many followers and fans, in a series called W&D Renovates.
Read excerpts from her blog in our guidebook or online here.
When Kate and Joe first purchased their St. Paul Tudor home, they knew it needed work but also saw the potential that a renovation could fulfill. A solid structure and lots of character, not too mention a clear vision for what could be, drove their purchase – and the beamed ceiling in the living room sold them!
For Wit and Delight fans, Kate and Joe’s home lives up to expectations. Their home has charm and charisma, plus an aesthetic that really delights. Bright white walls and sleek black cabinetry in the kitchen creates a contemporary flare, while gold accents and unique selections round out the home’s modern style effortlessly.
The real charm, however, is in the details, like the cement tile flooring, french oven, floating shelves and butcher block peninsula.
McDonald Remodeling also updated Kate and Joe’s basement, which serves as their go-to entertainment and relaxation space. Their monochromatic style flows graciously from room to room connecting the main floor with the basement and upper level.
Psssst … Kate’s popular geometric serving tray from her 2014 Target collection is the perfect accessory on her basement coffee table.
Gold light fixtures can be seen throughout the home, tying together their modern tastes. On her blog, Kate notes that bold lighting choices can easily be swapped out for more traditional fixtures in the future – though we’re loving this golden trend. See more golden trends here.
