About Us
In 1948, Minneapolis and St. Paul became the birthplace of the original Parade of Homes. What began with just a few homes in one development has been transformed through the years and today is the largest home tour in the United States.
Presented by Housing First Minnesota, the Parade of Homes has been an integral regional event since then, adding the Remodelers Showcase® since 1984. These popular and free home tour events showcase the variety and opportunities available in new homes and remodeling for families across the extended metro region. Launched in June 2014, Housing First Minnesota added the Artisan Home Tour®, a ticketed tour of high-end homes and remodeled homes.
Housing First Minnesota is the leading voice for builders and remodelers. Housing First Minnesota represents more than 900 builders, remodelers, developers and industry suppliers with the mission of homeownership opportunities for all Minnesotans.
Additionally, Housing First Minnesota offers Minnesota’s Green Path, a new home and remodeling energy labeling and certification program to promote healthy, durable, energy-efficient homes to buyers and homeowners.
Housing First Minnesota’s charitable arm, Housing Minnesota First Foundation, in affiliation with HomeAid America, taps the talents and resources of the association’s member builders, remodelers, suppliers, and volunteers to build, renovate, or repair transitional housing in the Twin Cities area. By partnering to build safe housing for those in need, the Housing First Minnesota Foundation is building futures through housing.
Finally, Housing First Minnesota created the Housing Affordability Institute, a think tank committed to increasing housing affordability and access while advancing homeownership opportunities for all.
