For so many Minnesotans, the prospect of owning a home is tantalizingly close, but day-to-day expenses prevent them from saving enough to secure that initial down payment. Their dream of homeownership is just out of reach.
The Parade of Homes has a proud legacy of providing homeownership opportunities for 75 years. In our continued commitment to expanding the opportunity for homeownership for everyone, everywhere in our state, we’re proud to provide the Parade of Homes First-Time Homebuyer $10K Giveaway once again this fall!
Who can enter?
These $10K grants can be put toward the down payment or closing costs of a first-time homebuyer’s new house. This house can be either resale or newly built — whichever suits your lifestyle! However, the home cannot cost more than $425,000.
The grant is not sent straight to the homebuyers but rather is disbursed to the title company to use for housing costs. The recipients then have 12 months to close on their new house and begin making memories!
Entries are accepted from August 21 through October 1 at 6:00 p.m. Enter today to begin finding your dream home!
Wyatt & Sarah’s Story
After his return home from the Army, Wyatt and his partner Sarah were house hunting in a competitive market met with endless bids over asking price. With the down payment assistance, Wyatt and Sarah were able to make their dream of owning a home a reality. Read their story.
Lori’s Story
At one point, Lori’s dream of owning her own place felt far out of reach. Working in hospitality for over 15 years, she had been paying down student loans and saving for a down payment when the pandemic hit. Then, she was selected as a winner and was able to close on her very first home. Read her story.
Every time you purchase a ticket to tour a Dream Home on the Parade of Homes, you’re helping fund the work of the Housing First Minnesota Foundation. This fall, five Dream Homes were hand-selected for their design, craftsmanship, and inspirational interiors.
These Dream Homes do more than showcase what’s possible in home design — they help make housing possible for our neighbors who need it most. Your $7 admission supports the Foundation’s work toward building safe housing for Minnesotans in need. Each visitor through the door helps a fellow Minnesotan finally have a place to call home.
