Special Dream Home for Veterans on 2017 Fall Parade of Homes
Since the mid 1990s, the Twin Cities’ Parade of Homes has included a couple of homes each event that require a $5.00 entry fee to visit (all other homes on the tour are free). Usually these are million-dollar beauties that showcase the latest in design and construction trends (like the four on this year’s tour). The fee to see these Artisan Dream Homes goes to support our charitable arm, the BATC Foundation.
This fall, we’re very proud to include one more very special Dream Home that has been donated to the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) to provide transitional housing for homeless veterans with families. The BATC Foundation’s latest project is Home #1 on the tour, and was built by Lennar and a multitude of their trade partners. The five bedroom, two-story home has 3,791 square feet and includes wheelchair access plus all the features Lennar homebuyers have come to expect from the region’s top ranked builder. It even includes Lennar’s exclusive Wi-Fi Certified program.
Just prior to opening for visitors on the first day of this fall’s Parade of Homes, dignitaries attended a Key Ceremony and turned the home over to its new owners, MACV. Many of the companies involved in the home’s construction, local and state government officials, MACV staffers and BATC and Foundation leadership attended.
A private gathering was held at the home on Wednesday, September 14th to celebrate the completion of the home and thank all the people involved in the project.
The home will remain open to tour during the Fall Parade of Homes (Thursdays through Sundays until October 1st), after which it will be readied to welcome its first veteran family. While in the home, residents will receive support from a MACV case manager to help them find success for a brighter future.
This home could not have been built without the help and support of so many generous companies and individuals. These fine firms have provided labor, materials, services and other support, showing their commitment to giving back to our community. Thank you! And please, consider hiring them for your next project.
