A family’s dream home was completed in phases, beginning with the kitchen and main level and culminating in a second story addition featuring an elegant new primary suite and home office. The family’s remodeling journey began in 2020. The initial project addressed the home’s most significant shortcomings – a closed-off main level, outdated finishes and an inefficient kitchen that lacked custom storage, time-saving appliances and a large, welcoming center island. The owners envisioned a bright, open home with ample space for their family to grow. With two young children, they planned to stay long-term and wanted the home to reflect their lifestyle and personal taste. With the main level under construction, it was the ideal time to plan structurally for a future second phase, including a mudroom off the kitchen and a partial second story. Phase two was completed in 2025. The finished upper-level addition includes an owners’ suite with a bedroom, bathroom and generous walk-in closet. Deep green wainscoting on the bedroom walls creates an elegant and refined, yet comfortable, space.
The bathroom features a glass-enclosed walk-in shower and a custom dual-sink vanity with warm brass accents. An airy window brings in natural light, while muted green trim and molding echo the bedroom walls, visually connecting the two spaces. Also located on the upper level is a quiet, private home office, ideal for working from home. The new mud room addition at the back of the home is an especially valuable feature for a busy family. Finished with warm wood tones and moss-colored vertical paneling, the mud room balances function and durability with warmth and style.
