This 1950s home was transformed with a more open and functional layout. We opened up the closed-off kitchen for better flow, refinished the wood floors, and fully remodeled every bathroom. Two showers were made barrier-free for easy access. An oversized bedroom gained an ensuite for guests or a caretaker, and an outdated laundry room became a walk-in pantry and powder bath, with laundry relocated.
This 1950s home was thoughtfully reimagined to better support a family with special needs, blending accessibility with modern design. What was once a closed-off and outdated layout was opened up to create a more functional kitchen with improved flow, natural light, and a clean, modern aesthetic that better suits everyday living.
Original wood floors were refinished to bring warmth and continuity throughout the home, while every bathroom was fully gutted and redesigned for a more updated, functional feel. Two of the showers were made barrier-free, providing safer and easier access without sacrificing style.
An oversized bedroom was transformed by adding an ensuite bathroom, creating a flexible space ideal for guests or a live-in caretaker. To further enhance functionality, an outdated laundry room was repurposed into a walk-in pantry and powder bathroom, while the laundry was relocated to the mudroom for improved efficiency and convenience.
The result is a home that feels open, welcoming, and modern—designed with intention to support accessibility, comfort, and the evolving needs of the family.
